Abstract

A model of “order-disorder” type structural transitions in dilute aqueous solutions of lower aliphatic alcohols is proposed. Analytical expressions for the thermodynamic potential of the solution, its isobaric heat capacity increment, and the dependence of the temperature of a solution transition to a structurally ordered state on the alcohol concentration are obtained. A linear correlation between the concentration dependence of the heat capacity and the compressibility of the solution is proved to exist.
