Abstract

Motivated by the extension of Albrecht approach proposed for Runge–Kutta methods and general linear methods, we explain the derivation of order conditions, without any restriction on the stage order, for second derivative general linear methods. Using this approach, we derive general order conditions for second derivative general linear methods up to order six. To illustrate, exact coefficients for several low stage order methods with some desirable stability properties are presented.
