Abstract

Wireless communication with orbital angular momentum (OAM) of electromagnetic (EM) radio waves has attained some consideration over the past several years. A new millimetre-wave orbital angular momentum (OAM) based antenna is proposed in this research. The OAM mode radio antenna is based on standing wave generated with the modification of Short Helical Antennas SHAs and two supporting ports fed by a 90○ hybrid coupler. The beams are focused without considering other properties of Short Helical Antennas. The designed antenna is evaluated in terms of S-parameters, near field, directivity and separation between two OAM modes, respectively. The simulation result demonstrates the antenna can transmit in three OAM modes at the same time. The multiplexing and de-multiplexing are effectively acknowledged in the reception apparatuses. The simultaneous transmission of three different OAM mode channels offered significant separation, reported more than -20dB. The electric fields simulations are presented, and it is verified that the designed antenna is capable of generating multiple OAM modes.
