Abstract

Helically twisted microstructured optical fibers have wide application prospects in the field of optical vortex communications. In this paper, the optical performance of supermodes in helical dual-core microstructure fiber (DCMF) is analyzed. Compared with the untwisted case, the fundamental odd modes in helical DCMF (HDCMF) carry the orbit angle momentum (OAM). Besides, the confinement loss of fundamental supermodes (FSMs) carrying the same order OAM in HDCMF increases sharply at special wavelength. It shows that HDCMF can be used as an OAM filter. These excellent characteristics shows HDCMF can be a good candidate in the fields of communication and functional devices.
