Abstract

The speech In adventu Francisci III Lotharingiae, Barri et Magni Etruriae Ducis ad florentinos (Florence, 1739), by the Jesuit Girolamo Lagomarsini (1698-1773), constitutes an excellent example of the epideictic oratory of his time. It is an address focused specifically on the figure of the man who later became Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor. This article offers a critical edition of the speech, a translation into Spanish and a general contextualization in its historical and rhetorical framework, taking into account the oratorical production of the author.
