Abstract

The main goal of modern dental care is im­proving oral health and therefore quality of life. The modern concept of "oral health-relat­ed quality of life" (OHRQOL) developed in the last ten years. OHRQOL is an important factor in assessing the impact of oral disease in the general population and evaluation of profes­sional intervention. Assessment of quality of life that depends on the oral health care is standardized ques­tionnaires. Some questionnaires have been developed in order to measure only certain dimensions OHRQOL, while others are trying questionnaires include as many dimensions. Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) is a multivariate questionnaire, structured with the purpose of measuring patients' opinions of dysfunction, discomfort and disability caused by the condition of the stomatognathic system. OHIP questionnaire collects data on all dimensions that affect the self-assessment of oral health, not just the state of oral health, which is very important for the evaluation of the treatment.
