Abstract

Oral squamous cell carcinoma is the common kind of oral malignant neoplasm. Squamous cell carcinomas of the alveolar ridge account for 9% of all oral carcinomas. Oral squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common cancers in most Asian countries with global distribution. In our country, carcinoma of the oral cavity is one of the five leading sites of cancer in either gender. The dentist should have proper clinical and biological details related to histologic variants. Microscopic documentation of the various histological subtypes of oral squamous cell carcinoma should be emphasised among pathologists to contribute to steady knowledge of the clinical and biological behaviour in the oral cavity and result in more exact treatment protocols. Keywords: Comedo necrosis, Dysplastic epithelium, Oral squamous cell carcinoma
