Abstract

Two cases demonstrating the oral roentgenographic changes in osteitis fibrosa generalisata associated with chronic azotemic renal disease have been presented. The oral radiographs demonstrated the characteristic changes of osteitis fibrosa, including generalized demineralization, altered trabecular pattern, loss of lamina dura, and blurring of bony anatomic landmarks. The cause of the bone changes in renal osteitis fibrosa generalisata was discussed with reference to parathyroid function and the disordered metabolism of chronic azotemic renal disease.
