Abstract

The advent of oral retinoid therapy with isotretinoin has opened a new era in the management of patients with acne. Many more studies will have to be conducted not only in order to understand fully the mechanism of action of the drug but also to answer questions related to the duration of therapy, the actual dosage of the drug that should be used, and the pattern and severity of side effects.
