Abstract

About one in three metastatic lesions in the oral cavity is found in a patient not known to have cancer. Thus, although most cancers of the mouth are primary, the small percentage of secondary tumors assumes special importance from the standpoint of cancer detection. Breast cancer metastasizes to the oral region more frequently than tumors in other sites.
