Abstract

Abstract Childhood language disorders and their potential negative impact on the child's academic and psychosocial functioning are described. The importance of early identification is stressed and ‘danger signs’ are presented so that parents and professionals can recognize possible language problems. Diagnostic and language remediation strategies utilized by speech‐language pathologists are also described.
