Abstract
This paper presents evidence given by Professor Bent Flyvbjerg to the UK House of Commons Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee in their Major Projects Inquiry. The evidence covers the Iron Law of megaprojects, exceptions to the Law, UK major project performance compared to other countries, the Channel tunnel specifically, HS2, performance of major IT projects, the benefits of major projects including wider benefits, how to deliver major projects successfully, the political sublime of major projects, the top-three issues for good governance, early warning signs of project failure, and much more.
