Abstract
High-grade B-cell lymphomas (HGBLs) are aggressive B-cell neoplasms also known as double-hit and triple-hit lymphomas, that harbor translocations in BCL2, BCL6, and/or MYC genes. This study describes the clinicopathologic data, immunohistochemical features, EBV status, and molecular findings of 8 cases of HGBLs that were retrieved from the files of 3 oral pathology centers from 2001 to 2019. The median age at presentation was 64.4 years without sex predominance. Most cases involved the oral cavity as asymptomatic swellings. Microscopically, the tumors exhibited a diffuse growth pattern, mostly composed of large centroblasts. Three cases showed the starry sky appearance. Most cases were positive for Bcl2, MUM1, Bcl6, and c-Myc proteins. The mean proliferative index was 74.5%. Double translocations of MYC/BCL2 and MYC/BCL6 genes were observed in 3 and 2 cases, respectively. Three cases demonstrated simultaneous rearrangements of MYC/BCL2/BCL6. HGBL can be found in the oral/oropharyngeal region and is associated with aggressive clinical presentation.
