Abstract

Optical and mechanical property changes were studied at room temperature. A two-beam interferometric system, in conjunction with a strain device, was used to study the dynamic behavior of opto-mechanical properties. A number of parameters were determined, including reduction in entropy Δ S, work per unit volume W, average work per chains W′, the harmonic mean polarizability of the dielectric, the harmonic mean specific refractivity, the number of the monomer units per unit volume, stress, strain optical coefficients, the optical configuration parameter, the distribution of segments with respect to the draw ratios, the number of molecules per unit volume, the virtual refractive index and the isotropic refractive index. The density results obtained by the de Vries formula were used to calculate the degree of crystallinity and the mean square density fluctuation at different draw ratios. Relations between the optical and mechanical parameters are given for these fibers.
