Abstract

Basic research directions in fiber-based optofluidics are discussed and in particular tunable optofluidic photonic liquid crystal fibers based on both silica-glass and polymer photonic crystal fibers are demonstrated. Experimental results on thermally-tunable light guiding mechanisms as well as selected optofluidic photonic liquid crystal fibers-based devices are presented.
