Abstract
ABSTRACTI briefly summarize recent observational results that, taken together, imply that star formation and the protogalactic era may be taking place at z≳5. I discuss the implications of these results for planned instruments and missions and suggest that modification of the Far‐Infrared and Submillimeter Space Telescope (FIRST) and Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) mission instruments to include longer wavelength capability be considered.
