Abstract

Electrical power is the life line of today's society from America to Africa, China to Syria. Solar energy is available everyday in a vast immeasurable quantity everywhere. Solar energy will be converted to electrical energy by solar cell panels. Nowadays smart micro grid plays a vital role electric power management of any house or factory. Smart micro grid is connects the EB distribution line and solar power generation output to EB power line when solar power becomes excess. In our paper we try to optimize the solar electric power generation using Tamil calendar which is called solar calendar, because it provides the position of the sun at a particular time on any day at any place on the earth. Our work is based on optimizing the power generation by rotating the panel according to the Tamil calendar. We compare the generated power after the rotation of the panel and the power generated without any rotation, then study whether it is useful. As a matter of fact that the extra power generated must be greater the power spent for the rotation of the solar cell power generating panel. In the previous works they try to find the optimum angle for a particular place on the earth or they rotate in one direction that is rotating the panel from east to west. But in our work we rotate the solar panel in both direction, which is the panel will be moving east to west at the same time panel will be moving from south to north or north to south. Real time readings have been taken at SKR Engineering College campus, Agarmel village, Poonamalle, Chennai, Tamil Nadu state, India which has the latitude of 11. We find that rotating panel on certain period of the year is more productive and more beneficial.
