Abstract

Mode-matching analytical models for segmented ducts have been developed to take advantage of the liner impedance discontinuities in the design of optimal duct acoustic liners of one, two, and three segments. The analytical studies have been reported previously [R.J. Beckemeyer and D.T. Sawdy, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 52, Suppl. No. 1 S16(A) (1975)]. In the present paper, the analytical studies have been extended to include flow ducts containing uniform mean flow, and experimental results are reported for Mach numbers from zero to 0.4. Excellent analytical-experimental correlation has been obtained, thus validating the analytical procedures used to design optimum segmented duct liners.
