Abstract

This chapter deals with the different methods and solution algorithms used to solve the optimal power flow problem of the power system. The power system is considered one of the most nonlinear complex systems in science and engineering. It is possibly the largest manmade network that connects the village to city, city to state, state to country, and country to another country. The power system is considered one of the most nonlinear complex systems in science and engineering. As discussed in the previous section, optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) is a high-degree nonlinear and optimization problem of a power system that includes several level constraints to satisfy while optimizing specific objectives. Optimizing the total load voltage deviation in the power system helps the system to approximately maintain a flat voltage profile throughout the system. ORPD problem deals with several physical and operational constraints. It includes both equality and inequality constraints.
