Abstract

AbstractIrreversible first‐ and second‐order reactions are studied for combinations of tubular and CST reactors when endothermal or exothermal adiabatic conditions prevail.Typical results presented for MT and TM models show the variation of either the conversion or the relative residence time as a function of the mixing level of the system.A graphical method, applicable generally to MT reactors, provides a simplification over that of successive approximations required for model TM.For the conditions investigated broad limits are indicated of the optimum reactor combinations.
