Abstract

Kutay A. (1986) Optimum office location and the comparative statics of information economies, Reg. Studies 20, 551–564. In contrast to industrial plant location, most studies of office location depend on an empirical rather than a theoretical basis. This study provides a theoretical analysis of office location which incorporates accessibility-to-labour-market costs and the distribution cost of information produced by the office. Rate of change of the optimal location is analysed with respect to a change in the volume of information produced under two scenarios: location in a conventional uni-nodal settlement system and location in a multicentred settlement system of the information age.
