Abstract

This paper deals with the characteristics analysis and optimum design of axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) rotor Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) using a coupled Finite Element Method (FEM) and Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The focus of this paper is the characteristics analysis and optimum design relative to the torque density and ripple on the basis of rotor shapes of a SynRM. In addition, Comparisons are given with characteristics of a same rated wattage traction induction motor and those of ALA-SynRM, respectively.
