Abstract

Friction stir welding is a welding technique widely used in the industrial field, especially for connecting aluminum alloys in space, shipping, automotive, defense, and other applications in other sectors. In this study, the process of welding aluminum alloy 6061 with the Friction Stir Welding method was carried out using a vertical milling machine. The main purpose of this research is to optimize machining conditions (rotational speed and Feeding) on the hardness and tensile strength of welds. Machining conditions are optimized using the experimental design method. The optimal result is that the ultimate tensile strength can reach 192.129 MPa and the hardness value is 66.818 HB.
