Abstract

Diffusive extraction into a large volume of liquid from a solid of arbitrary shape is studied subject to the condition that the complete equalization of concentration inside the solid occurs due to external action at certain points in time. It is found that a single pulse most effectively increases the yield of the product if it is applied at the middle point of the duration of the process T. If intensification is performed n times, the yield of the product is maximal if the pulses are separated by time intervals of T/(n + 1). This result depends neither on the shape of the solid nor on the details of its internal structure. The optimum moments of intensification are shifted to longer times in the case of extraction into a finite volume.
