Abstract

1. The composition of cast iron intended for operation under abrasive wear conditions must be selected with at least two parameters kept in mind — the abrasive (microcutting, and impact — abrasive wear resistance. 2. The carbon and manganese concentrations have different effects on the abrasive and impact-abrasive wear resistance of cast iron. The abrasive wear resistance of cast iron rises with increasing amounts of carbon and drops with increasing amounts of manganese.
