Abstract

Introduction One of the greatest resources in the operating room is time. Its conservation can both save and make capital with improvement in OR utilization, increased throughput of patients, and a reduction in wasted time by surgeons and other costly OR personnel. Potential areas of improvement have been identified in the past, including increasing on-time surgical starts, decreasing room turnover times, ensuring accuracy of surgeon preference cards, and improving multidisciplinary communication.
