Abstract

Voltage stability in power plant is very important to maintain, because it can affect the voltage system. The change in the generator output voltage can be affected by various factors including dynamic load and field amplifier voltage (excitation voltage). Therefore, we need an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) model that has a maximum work point efficiency value to optimize the output power at the generator excitation input. In this paper, an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) optimization system is created using a Cuk Converter type converter. The output voltage of the Cuk Converter can be set to be greater or smaller than the input voltage by adjusting the duty cycle using the PI Control. The PI controller has a settling time of 0.42 s which is faster and overshoots that lower than other types of controllers.
