Abstract

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have broad applications in agriculture, disaster relief, transportation, aerial surveillance, and construction. Although UAVs are beneficial, they also have a plethora of limitations including flight time, energy consumption, intermittent connectivity. The utilization of multi-UAV networks allows UAVs to collaborate on tasks for short periods of time, which makes them particularly useful in natural disasters. Delay Tolerant Opportunistic Networks (DTONs) do not rely solely on centralized infrastructure, which can circumvent connectivity issues that commonly occur in post natural disaster scenarios. By designing an algorithm to optimize UAV placement within a DTON for maximum throughput within the network.
