Abstract

A method of optimizing the bias current of a shielded soft-adjacent-layer magnetoresistive recording head is presented using a spinstand track profile model. Values of write width, read width, track asymmetry, and track position error signal at the optimized bias current are determined. Expressions of the position error signal gain of a track profile are discussed.
