Abstract

In the paper is proposed new analytical approach to the optimization of the characteristics of the current leads to the superconducting electromagnets, basing on the analytical solution of the heat diffusion equation in stationary as well as dynamic, one dimensional case. Then temperature distribution in copper current leads to superconducting electromagnets through which flows current has been determined for monolithic lead with thermal intercept. The values of the low temperature losses, i.e. heat leak flowing through the cold end of lead at FEL-s type construction were determined as the function of current, while minimum of this leakage was found for various leads geometries. This new analytical approach allows to follow, in more visible form than advanced numerical calculations, the influence of physical parameters on the current leads operation.
