Abstract

The maximized continuous TEM <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">00</inf> output power and optimum output mirror transmission are calculated for a four-level laser assuming spatially uniform pumping of the laser medium. The results are expressed in simple closed forms that depend on the TEM <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">00</inf> mode radius, the radius of the gain medium, the absorbed pump power, the threshold absorbed pump power, and the optical loss of the laser resonator.
