Abstract

A novel PV-Trombe wall (PV-TW) assisted with DC fan driven by solar radiation proportional DC current is theoretically investigated in this paper. Based on the improved PV-TW system’s model, theoretical simulations have been conducted for PV-TW systems assisted with different DC fans. Moreover, a thermal efficiency is defined for the system, in order to evaluate the function of DC fan better. The simulation results for PV-TW system assisted with different DC fans show that when DC fan runs faster, the average indoor temperature and thermal efficiency increases first and then decreases, while the electrical efficiency always increases, but not distinctly. Hence, an optimum DC fan is chosen and the comparison of the detailed performance in 3 cases is performed. The daily indoor temperature, thermal efficiency and electrical efficiency in the optimum case are 16.28°C, 14.15%, 10.58%.
