Abstract

Fault current supplied by inverter interfaced distributed generation (IIDG) is different from that supplied by conventional power source, which will affect the trip of relay protection. So, the research on optimization of IIDGs in distribution network should take constraints of relay protection into account. Firstly, the definition of maximum and minimum operation mode of IIDG is put forward, and the short-circuit calculation model of IIDG is also established. According to the performance requirements of current protection in distribution network, the access limit of IIDG under different conditions is studied. Based on relay protection constraints, the optimization method of distribution network with IIDG is proposed. Setting active power loss as target, the capacity allocation with a giving total and location optimization with giving capacity are researched respectively. Finally, the sensitivity of the protection will be checked to ensure the general usefulness of the method.
