Abstract

Batch processing is one way to improve business process activities. This research aims to evaluate batch processing performance that minimizes its cycle time with a design batch processing scenario. Meta-heuristics approach such as Improved-Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization (IH-PSO) gives new batch size combination, resulting with lowest cycle time. Initial scenario, a batch size combination of 2,2,2,2,2,1 produces a cycle time of 3050.75 minutes, while the IH-PSO is providing a new batch size combination of 4,4,4,5,4,1 indicating a cycle time of 3003.65 minutes. This approach has proven to be more efficient than the traditional approach to finding the optimum batching size.
