Abstract

The design, optimization, and analysis of two-dimensional metal-assisted guided mode resonance (MAGMR) based sensing structures have been presented focusing on the visible range of operation. The study has been conducted for square and hexagonal lattice geometries and the sensing properties and performance of the MAMGR structures have been compared with the traditional guided-mode resonance (GMR) structures sharing identical design parameters. The effect of various design parameters on the individual resonant polarization modes has also been investigated and the superior bulk sensitivities of the MAGMR structures have been highlighted in comparison with the GMR structures.
