Abstract

The design of the 100 T pulsed magnet has been developed at WHMFC. The magnet consists of coaxially nested inner, middle and outer coils. The magnetic fields generated by the three coils are superimposed up to 100 T. To better reduce the temperature rise and stress of the three coils, the magnetic field contribution ratio of the three coils is optimized. According to the power supply of WHMFC, the inner and the middle coils are driven by 1.6 MJ and 20 MJ capacitor banks, and the outer coil is driven by the combination of a 100 MJ/100 MW pulse generator. the magnetic fields contributed by the inner, middle and outer coils are 46 T, 40 T and 14 T respectively without a decoupling transformer. The experimental results show that 81.4 T magnetic field has been obtained by the three coil magnet system.
