Abstract

Cellulase-free xylanase was produced by Streptomyces sp. Ab106 from the agricultural waste cane bagasse. The effect of external factors pH and temperature on the xylanase production was studied and the optimization by using the central composite experimental design was investigated. The effects of pH and temperature were significant for the xylanase production. A second-order quadratic model and a response surface method showed that the optimum condition for xylanase production was 50 °C and pH 7. The maximum yield of xylanase was about 15 IU without cellulase and manannase activities.
