Abstract

Effects of sintering time, peak temperature, heating rate, and binder system on the sintered density of alumina compacts were modeled using statistical methods. The traditional polyvinyl alcohol/polyethylene glycol (PVA/PEG) binder system produced more spherical spray dried granules and higher sintered densities than systems including hydroxyethylcellulose and 20,000 molecular weight PEG.
