Abstract

The authors consider the operation of a photovoltaic panel. Then demonstrate the necessity of matching the load and the generator internal impedance. To this end, they insert a boost chopper between the panel and the load, to maintain the output voltage constant, then show that this yields the maximum output power for a given temperature, in spite of insolation variations. Then, they show that a temperature variation lead to a variation of maximum permissible power of same sign; therefore, it is necessary to vary reference of the output voltage if optimum power operation is to be obtained for all temperature conditions. The various elements are studies in the paper, and a convenient model of the booster is offered.
