Abstract

The simplex method is employed to optimize the operating conditions of a pulsed CO2 laser excited by a nonself-sustained discharge. It is found that for the given laser design the maximum specific energy output attains 80?90 J?liter?1?atm?1 for a pulse duration of 8 ?sec and a specific energy input of 430 J?liter?1?atm?1.
