Abstract

A special type of transporting machine - a suspended belt conveyor is considered. The article presents the researches aimed at reducing the cost of conveyor transport by optimizing the mass of metal structure. An algorithm has been developed for carrying out an optimal design of a metal structure for a conveyor with a suspension belt, which allows to automate the procedure for obtaining an optimal mass version of a metal structure for a conveyor. A technical and economic comparison of the result, obtained during the optimal design with the existing version of the suspended belt conveyor, has been implemented. The material savings, and, consequently, the cost of conveyor transport, are quantitatively shown when the optimal design of the metal structure of the suspended belt conveyor is carried out at the initial stage.
