Abstract

The performance of the air conditioning system in the high-bay depot for cigarette materials was not satisfactory, the temperature and humidity distribution in the depot was not up to the technological requirement, which adversely affected the stored materials. Therefore, the system was improved. Two air conditioning units were added responsible for mixing fresh air and circulated air and air supply. The pattern of indoor air flow was rearranged from side-in and side-out to top-in and bottom-out.After improving, the temperature and humidity was more evenly distributed horizontally, although the vertical temperature distribution was not as even,it was in the acceptable range. The mathematical model was built with CFD software, and the temperature and humidity fields in the depot were simulated and studied under different input air volumes and parameters, the results showed that: 1) for the depot in which uniform temperature and humidity fields were required, the air flow pattern of top-in and bottom-out associated with static-pressure chamber and perforated air-supply board was feasible;2) in summer, the change of air volume had less effect on the temperature field, which was more affected by the change of temperature difference of input air.The constant and uniform temperature and humidity in the depot can be maintained by adjusting input air volume and temperature.
