Abstract

In present era of engineering various types of intricated profiles with hard-to-reach areas of components can be finished easily by magnetic abrasive flow machining. The silicon carbide (SiC) abrasive was used as an abrasive cutting tool. The liquid silicon rubber and hydraulic oil were used as an abrasive carrier to form an abrasive slurry. In this paper, the study of surface finishing and material removal (MR) of Al/SiC/B4C based HMMCs with magnetic abrasive flow machining process. The process parameters are taken as extrusion pressure, magnetic flux density, abrasives size, the concentration of abrasives, cycles number etc. The response parameters are taken as surface finishing and material removal MR. The simulation was conducted by using ANSYS software. The tests were conducted on Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
