Abstract

Recently, we have great potential have been made by the various researchers on sandwich pipe concept for deepwater applications. The concept of sandwich pipe (SP) is consists of two concentric metallic (or steel) pipes which separated by a polymeric (core) annulus material. By incorporating this interlayer’s in to the SP design, it may improve the adhesion of interfaces. It provides the sufficient structural strength for deepwater applications. However, the designing sandwich pipe is a very complex problem in the current scenario. Subsequently, the use of sandwich pipes has been increases day by day and water depth reaching beyond 1500 m. In this work, modeling (design & simulation) of sandwich pipes is done using CATIA V5 software tool for static analysis. Also, the ANSYS helps to determine the surface deformation of SP by applying external pressure on both the inner and outer pipe. Furthermore, the deformation capacity is one of the significant parameters for the deepwater applications. Finally, objective of this paper is to find the optimized combination input parameters integrated SP for deepwater applications.
