Abstract

The influence of different 3D printing process parameters such as raster angle, layer thickness, fill density, raster width, speed of deposition, and air gap have been studied. A considerable amount of work has been reported by the researchers on additive manufacturing and optimization of various input parameters and the best optimum values are obtained for the best surface finish in fused the deposition modelling process (FDM) using Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) polymer. This paper intensively reviews the state-of-the-art literature on the influence of parameters on part quality and existing work on process parameter optimization thereby allowing them to choose the most suitable approach for the minimization of surface roughness in FDM printed parts.
