Abstract

Utilization of solar energy as a solar power plant has enormous potential in Indonesia. The heat from the sun's energy can cause the power and voltage of the solar panels to drop. This study aims to increase the voltage of the solar panel by adding the element Chromel Alumel on the surface of the solar panel. This research uses 2 monocrystalline solar panels with a maximum output of 50 W. The first solar panel is free of Chromel Alumel elements, the second solar panel is combined with Chromel Alumel elements which are inserted into copper pipes and mounted on the surface of the solar panels. Variables measured include solar panel surface temperature, voltage, current, solar panel output power, and efficiency. The data taken is located at Tegal Binagun Palembang which was carried out at 06.00-18.00 in June 2022 with sunny cloudy weather conditions. The results showed that the monocrystalline PV Panel with Chromel Alumel had the highest power of 4.62 Watt at a temperature of 49.7oC (second highest temperature) at an hour with an efficiency of 9.89%. While the Polycrystalline PV Panel with Chromel Alumel can delay the breakdown time of the voltage at a temperature of 51.3oC with a voltage of 2.89 Watt to a temperature of 47.4oC with a voltage of 2.84 Watt. The highest efficiency was achieved by Polycrystalline PV Panel without Chromel Alumel of 8.16%.
