Abstract

The Volga-Ural oil and gas bearing province, the central territory of which is occupied by Tatarstan territory, is characterized by a high degree of exploration and utilization of reserves. The fact that the area is well investigated (for 15 sq. km there is one prospecting-exploratory well), made it a unique testing ground for geological monitoring and development of the strategy and tactics of oil deposits prospecting in under-explored regions. The main source of oil reserves replenishment is small, limited in sizes and reserves, formations in Devonian and Carbonic deposits, controlled by different genesis traps. Their search using traditional methods of seismic prospecting is not effective in some cases. In the conditions of a high degree of the territory exploration detailed revision of the accumulated material with consideration of new data and possibility of new methods becomes a general direction. On the basis of a comprehensive geological analysis new concepts of the regularities of oil deposits location have been developed and perspectives of oil and gas presence in the territory have been specified. Search for new oil fields is carried out using both traditional mehtods, i.e. seismic prospecting, and non-traditional ones. Application of optimum technique of oil deposits prospecting and exploration for the territories with a high degree of exploration provides for execution of a highly promising geological prospecting in Tatarstan.
