Abstract

Micro-EDM is an emerging micromachining technique used for fabrication of micro holes used in nuclear sector, automobile, aerospace, defence and biomedical applications. It involves a number of process parameters. In the present investigation, the optimization of fabrication of micro holes using micro-EDM has been carried out using neural network and genetic algorithm. The circularity error (Cr), recast layer thickness (Rl) and machining time (Tm) are taken as response parameters. The open source voltage (V), capacitance (C), spindle rotation (R) and feed (F) are taken as input parameters of the process.
