Abstract

In order to optimize the production of 201Tl and 67Ga using the (p,xn) reactions on enriched 203Tl and 68Zn targets we established a new set of cross section curves for the most relevant reactions. Target stacks made of up to 15 thin (50μm) natural Tl or Zn foils interleaved with brass degradation toils were irradiated with incident proton energies trom 42 to 10 MeV in overlapping experiments. Yields for 200, 201 , 202m, 203, 204mPb and 66, 67, 68Ga were computed from measured γ emission rates. Where possible, cross sections curves for the nuclear reactions involved were computed. Thick target yields and contamination ratios for enriched targets were derived and show good agreement with results trom actual production runs.
