Abstract

The present experimental work deals with examining the effect of machining parameters such as Wire Feed Rate, Pulse on time (Ton), Pulse off time (Toff) and Voltage in WEDM on the machining characteristics of INCONEL 600 was investigated. Wire EDM is a procedure of cutting materials which are electrically conductive in nature following a predefined programmed path according to the requirement. INCONEL 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy generally used where corrosion and high temperature resistance is in demand. The experimental analysis have been done using Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array. The signal to noise ratio associated with the observed values in the experiment have been determined by MOORA method. The most optimal machining parameter for maximum material removal rate, and minimum machining time, surface roughness and overcut was found out using Taguchi's methodology. The aim of this paper is to find out the optimal parameters for machining. It have been observed that different process parameters has different effects on machining hence multi-objective optimization has been used to find out the optimal setting.
